The Lord Hears!
These verses from Psalm 34 are filled with encouragement because they testify to our God’s power and loving-kindness. He listens earnestly to our prayers; he open-handedly blesses us with good things. No request is too great. Indeed, we are often guilty of asking God for far too little rather than asking him for way too much. We lack because we do not ask (James 4:2). We need to pray more powerful prayers. By that, I do not mean praying long-winded, loud prayers. But instead, I mean praying prayers filled with immense faith for big things because Jesus told us to pray this way (John 14:12).
So if you need forgiveness or protection or a quiet mind, or, for that matter, any other significant or small thing, this psalm encourages you to lean upon our Heavenly Father. He is listening and ready to respond. He is willing to answer us because of the merit and intercession of Jesus Christ, not our good behavior or perfect praying. Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57)!
